Priest 1-70 Leveling Guide

To get the best result from our World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade Classic Speedleveling Guide, it takes more than just taking the fastest route. We’ll show you how to play your class most effectively with our guide.

Playstyle

Leveling a priest efficiently is primarily based around maximizing the effectiveness of one talent: Spirit Tap.

After killing a mob this talent gives you a 100% bonus to your spirit and allows 50% of your mana regen to continue while casting.  When combined with spirit gear this will give you incredible regen and sustain and when paired with a good wand will allow you to level almost entirely without downtime.

Different races will also have different rotations like Trolls & Undead. These classes will add Shadow Guard & Devouring Plague into their rotations when it’s mana efficient for their level.

When leveling a Priest it’s also important to always stay in combat between 1-40. You will have a very minimum amount of downtime drinking/eating, for that reason you should think about where you are going after you kill each mob to continually attack mobs.

Rotation

1-40

Mind Blast > Shadow Word Pain -> Wand -> Mind Blast (on CD)

Keeping your wand updated while leveling is crucial as it provides a huge amount of your damage until you reach higher levels.

Sometimes you can open with Holy Fire instead of Mind Blast, if you recently got a Holy Fire rank.

40-50

Vampiric Touch -> Mind Blast > Shadow Word Pain ->Mind Flay

After reaching level 40 you can begin killing mobs with mostly your end game rotation.  You can continue to wand to finish mobs off if you won’t get the full value of your Mind Flay.

50-70

Vampiric Touch -> Mind Blast > Shadow Word Pain ->Mind Flay

Mobs between 50-70 get a lot more HP, in this level range you will need to keep up with drinks to efficiently level. Buy a lot of water to ensure this so you can spam Mind Flay on mobs for more damage.

Itemization

1-50

Wand DPS -> Spirit -> Spell Damage -> Intellect -> Stamina

As mentioned prior to level 50 getting a high dps wand paired with spirit on your gear is the cornerstone of your kit.  Spell Damage is less available in the early levels so pick it up when you can but generally its better to just stack Spirit.

50-70

Spell Damage -> Spirit -> Intellect -> Stamina

After level 50 Spell Damage gear becomes more available so look to grab it when you can.
